111-Hawaii Awards will be the very first ranking by Japanese Hawaii fans from Japan, Hawaii, and around the world. Determined through online voting, each of the 50 categories such as Hawaii gourmet, gifts, and tours showcase the best of Hawaii. Not only is this an awards competition, but also a project supporting Hawaii in which your votes help increase real donations toward helping our local community.
GOLD SHAKA
The restaurant or shop chosen as the top of each category will be presented with a Golden Shaka trophy
BEST OF SHAKA
The restaurant or shop with the most votes among all nominees will be presented with a Black Shaka trophy
SIGNIFICANCE & PURPOSE
To encourage higher standards and aid in further development of local businesses, goods, and services
Japanese customers are known to want only the highest quality of goods and services worldwide. Therefore, recognizing and awarding these local businesses will most likely heighten the quality of local goods and services.
Increase enjoyment among Japanese visitors, thereby contributing to Hawaii’s tourism development
Highlighting excellent businesses and available services in Hawaii will create more interest in traveling to Hawaii. By participating in this project, more travelers will fall in love with Hawaii and increase their spending during their trip.
Media in Hawaii and Japan will work hand in hand to kick start our Japanese visitor industry
The major Japanese media companies in Hawaii will come together as one to supply the best and latest information to raise awareness of products, services, and events in Hawaii. Raising awareness will help to reinvigorate the local tourism industry.
